Mikayla Weiss is a former standout volleyball setter from Clovis, California, who has transitioned into coaching to mentor and develop the next generation of athletes.
During her high school career at Buchanan High School, Mikayla led her team to a Tri-River Athletic Conference (TRAC) championship and a Central Section title with a 35-8 record in 2018. She was named the 2018 TRAC MVP and is a three-time all-league selection, including first-team selections as a junior and senior. Weiss had an increase in assists in each season, tallying 1,039 as a junior and 1,262 as a senior, averaging 11.2 assists per set. She totaled 300 digs and 2.5 digs per set during her junior season and, for her prep career, averaged 8.7 assists per set and 2.2 digs per set while also totaling over 600 kills and nearly 200 service aces. She also played club volleyball for Cal Volleyball Club.
Mikayla continued her volleyball journey at Fresno State University, where she contributed significantly as a setter. In the 2021 season, she appeared in all 26 matches, recording 592 assists, 140 digs, 58 kills, and 25 service aces. Her performance ranked her sixth in the Mountain West Conference for assists per set and total assists. She has returned to play at Fresno Pacific University this fall while obtaining her master's degree.
During her playing career, Mikayla began coaching, bringing her on-court experience and leadership to the next generation of athletes. She currently coaches at Clovis North, Elite Beach, and Valley Volleyball Academy.
She is passionate about mentoring young players and helping them navigate the recruiting process, aiming to enhance their athletic and personal development.
Catie Speas is a former setter and current assistant coach for the Fresno Pacific University (FPU) women's volleyball team. Her journey in volleyball began at Scottsdale Community College, where she played a pivotal role in securing the 2019 NJCAA national championship. She then transferred to FPU, competing from 2020 to 2023, during whi
Catie Speas is a former setter and current assistant coach for the Fresno Pacific University (FPU) women's volleyball team. Her journey in volleyball began at Scottsdale Community College, where she played a pivotal role in securing the 2019 NJCAA national championship. She then transferred to FPU, competing from 2020 to 2023, during which she recorded 1,747 assists and 118 aces over 96 matches.
While still an athlete, Catie initiated her coaching career at Buchanan High School, serving as the boys' junior varsity head coach and girls' assistant coach. Her efforts contributed to the girls' team's 2023 Valley championship victory. In 2024, she joined FPU's coaching staff, bringing her on-court experience and leadership to the program. She also coaches at Valley Volleyball Academy in Fresno, CA.
Beyond coaching, Catie also contributes to FPU Athletics as a full-time administrative assistant in the Sports Medicine department. She earned her degree in Business Management from FPU in 2023.
Catie is especially passionate about the recruiting process and loves helping athletes find the right fit both athletically and academically. She believes every athlete deserves the opportunity to continue their journey and is committed to guiding players and families through that process.
